It was common practice for our manager is to end a contract of one and replace him with 2 or 4 ppl.

This happened to my mom. When she retired, her user profile was split in three because nobody even tried to deal with all the permissions and roles at once.

The brighter side is that they posthumously recognised his efforts/value, in my office when 2-3 quit (due to the toxic culture, non-progress, pay, etc) the boss hires one person to replace those people, leaving thoae remaining to pick up the slack.
