That is so me, circa 2018!

Now I work as a govt contractor and I'm fine if I get a list, 😆 (just so long as I'm not ON one! :😜)

Autonomy can be good though. Worked with some wonderful people at a furniture firm in Austin, TX. They wanted their tech stack modernized and didn't care how. Just wanted their old Visual Basic code converted to C#.

I wrote a translator cli tool over the holiday and started converting code, testing, updating the cli translation rules and voila! 3 large web applications translated and no business logic loss.

The team was really happy with it. I was pretty surprised with the extent they let me change the code (not the logic) to become modern. I kept asking and asking "is this ok?". Chillest team I've ever worked with. I've encountered the complete opposite, too....with no interest I that cli tool.

Sometimes you just have to buckle up and do it the dumb way and let corporate do corporatey things, and wait for an opportunity to make a change. I got lucky once or twice, but I can take my Autonomy home and just work a side hustle. It keeps my blood pressure down! 😆
