I was once on a web governance committee in higher education. The color consultant said our undergraduate school's color should be hot pink, when their primary problem was not enough male applicants!
I once did back end database work for a consulting company that did web portals for various customers.
When they scored a major contract with a large supermarket chain and food importer/exporter, they hired a high-priced consultant who held meetings where the slides were basically buzzword bingo. The web designers were told they needed to "challenge their assumptions" about the business, "deconstruct the historical narratives" about supermarkets, etc.
Their initial pitch was rejected by the consultant for being too "meat centric". Not surprisingly, the consultant was a vegan.
Also not surprisingly, they eventually lost the account.
Been there. In a former company, we had to use the "Teal Dots in a Orange World". My leaders were never able to tell us what the idea was, and how we could work more efficient. 🤣

Would you present the same result as an employee, and you would be ridiculed.
