Ah, good times. I've been a contractor, and this happens often, except it's not just 1 day, but several. I've gotten fired because I could not immediately understand how to update a set of configurations dispersed across 3 or more tables across 5 different files with no documentation. I asked for help, but could not understand them even after a week of trying to get the config to work (I also had no idea how to test the config). I have 7+ years experience in C#, .NET and SQL and I'd never seen a more convoluted code base in my life.
