When he called them back because he hadn't heard from them (because he lacked email), IT formally sent a complaint letter to his manager. The manager put the reprimand in his file.
For "some reason", the hire (who was a contractor) decided not to continue with the company.
The best part of it was that the company complained to the contracting agency about his lack of professionalism, the agency pointed out that the company hadn't even signed the contracts yet, so they couldn't complain he was breaching the conditions of his contract, because he didn't have a contract...
